Interferon Gamma Inducing Factor & It’s Uses

Interferon-gamma or IFN γ is a human dimerized soluble protein encoded by the IFNG gene. The biologically active IFN γ is an interlocking anti-parallel form of two monomers. IFN γ is the sole member of the type II IFN group. IFN γ binds to the IFN-γ receptor complex to elicit a cellular signal. Two subunits, IFNGR1 and IFNGR2, make up the IFN-γ receptor complex. Interferon-gamma or IFN γ is a human protein encoded by the IFNG gene. The biologically active IFN γ is an interlocking anti-parallel form of two monomers. Operating as part of the innate immune system, cells release IFN γ in response to viral infections. Its antiviral action requires different methods, including inhibiting virus replication within infected host and activating both NK cells and macrophages to kill infected cells. It also benefits T cells by stimulating them to produce antiviral proteins such as beta 2-PI and 2′-5′-oligoadenylate synthetases (OAS).

The IFN-γ protein, also known as interferon gamma inducing factor or IFN γ, is a protein made by a virus-fighting type of immune cell called a ‘natural killer’ cell. It is a soluble protein that binds to another protein (called IFN-γR) on the surface of other immune cells. Binding of IFN-γ to its receptor results in a signal inside the cell that changes the behaviour of the cell and makes it start to kill infected or virus-infected cells.

What is cystatin c test : Cystatin C is an important kidney biomarker produced by all nucleated human cells. Researchers use cystatin C levels to detect kidney disorders, but also explore cystatin C’s role in predicting cardiovascular diseases and association with amyloid plaques in neurological disorders. Cystatin C is an important kidney biomarker that scientists use to evaluate the risk of various diseases and health conditions. Although you are unlikely to hear about it in everyday conversation, cystatin C and its effect on your health are fascinating. The cystatin C test is a lab test to measure levels of a protein known as cystatin C in the blood. Cystatin C acts as a biomarker for kidney disease. Higher levels can be an early indicator of kidney issues, especially for those with diabetes and other chronic disorders like hypertension. The cystatin C test is most often used in combination with other tests to diagnose kidney problems or monitor high-risk patients for signs of kidney issues.

Researchers first described Cystatin C as a gamma trace found in the urine of patients with kidney failure. All nucleated human cells produce cystatin C. Cystatin C is a basic non-glycosylated protein characterized by long and short alpha-helices. Although researchers mainly use cystatin C levels to study the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) to detect kidney disorders, recent studies also explore cystatin C’s role in predicting cardiovascular diseases and association with amyloid plaques in neurological disorders.

A proper kidney function relies on the filtration of waste, excess fluids and toxins by the kidneys. Cystatin C is a kidney biomarker that allows clinicians to assess a person’s kidney function in the same way as estimating blood pressure and urinary excretion.
